This article will explain how to add a deferral to a client's profile at any time. This process is independent of the ImmsBC appointment system.
1. Use the global search bar to locate the client's profile (Person Account).
Note: If multiple results appear, select the profile that is EMPI-verified and active. Inactive "not in use" records will display a banner and a reason for inactivation (e.g. duplicate, deceased).
2. Click on the Related tab in the client profile to view information related to immunization.
3. Scroll down to the Deferrals section in the Related tab.
4. Select New and complete the pop-up.
- Select the agent.
- Enter the date when the client was offered the vaccine in the Effective From field
- For the Effective To field...
- In most cases, it is appropriate to use the next calendar day, or a later date as per clinician's discretion.
- Exception: the field can also be left blank under certain circumstances
(e.g. Clinic #1 ran out of a particular product, so the client will go to their local pharmacy on the same day.)
- Select a Reason for Deferral from the drop-down menu
- Add additional Comments to specify the reason for deferral, or any other relevant information provided by the client('s family).

5. Select Save and you will see a green pop-up confirming the deferral was created.
6. Verify that the new row is added to the Deferrals section.
